Orange Trees & Archways of Seville: Photo Essay

Seville in Southern Spain is one of that cities that stuns you immediately with its beauty. Then continues to garner oohs and aahs as you wander through its grand squares, beautiful parks and narrow, winding laneways. My camera was constantly in my hand, or being retrieved from my bag.

And everywhere that I went I was met with the colourful displays of orange trees. Seville is home to the largest number of orange trees out of any city in the world. They were firstly introduced by the Moors, who also built the Real Alcazar. Just don’t try and sample a fallen one – it’s a bitter variety that isn’t good for eating or juicing, although is cherished by the Brits for marmalade.

Many of the my photos took advantage of the endless archways in the city. Whether surrounding the cathedral, in the Real Alcazar or just among the laneways, they were perfect for framing the city.

Hope you enjoy this selection of photos and that it inspires you to travel to this beautiful city!
