In the Australian summer, there’s nothing more traditional than heading to somewhere along the long coastline to spend a lazy week at the beach, cooking barbecues and generally doing nothing much. While many beach-side options are extremely expensive, with some suburbs only accessible to the rich, there are affordable options still available on Airbnb. Here are three options that will set you back no more than $150 AUD ($115 USD) per night, all within a short walk to the beach and leaving you enough cash for petrol and to fill up the fridge.

A Log Cabin by the Sea in Robe
Robe is a tiny seaside town in South Australia, located 3 1/2 hours drive from Adelaide on the Limestone Coast, towards the Victorian border. One of the oldest towns in South Australia, it has many wonderful old buildings and is still an active fishing port, with lobster being the most important catch. It’s the perfect quiet spot to get away from it all, and this log cabin makes for a great family stay. Sleeping up to 5 people in 2 bedrooms, with the main bedroom including a queen size bed, there’s an open plan kitchen/living/dining area, plus an additional undercover rear pergola with a BBQ and outdoor setting, and your own washing machine and dryer.
The cabin is located across the road from the local lake, plus within walking distance of the beach and many great fishing spots. During the peak summer and Easter holiday periods the minimum rental period is 5 nights, after which it reduces. The rental is $150 AUD per night (plus Airbnb service fee, plus $150 AUD security deposit).
