London has always been known for having expensive real estate. When staying in the city, your best option to stay close to the city centre (and most of the popular tourist attractions), but not to pay a fortune, is to rent a private room in an apartment on Airbnb. Luckily, there are plenty available, although it always pays to rent as early as possible to get the best choice! Here are 5 great private rooms on Airbnb in London, that each go for around £60-80 ($80-110 USD) per night for 2 people. Two of the options are in the popular Paddington area, just north of Hyde Park, while there’s also two great options in the East End of the city. I also couldn’t resist including a quirky Airbnb option further out to the north of London. And they all have plenty of positive reviews!
🐾 Dog-friendly: Some of these options are dog-friendly, see below. Looking for more options to stay with a dog? Check out my recommendations for dog-friendly hotels in London.

The Chocolate Room Airbnb in Stepney/Bethnal Green
The great thing about staying in the East End of London, is that it’s so close to the city via the underground (known locally as the Tube). The apartment that contains this chocolate room is only 5 minutes walk to Stepney Green and Bethnal Green Stations, and 15 minutes from the city. It’s also conveniently close to trendy Brick Lane (ground zero of great English curries) and the vibrant Shoreditch nightlife.
The apartment has been recently refurbished, with a gorgeous new shared bathroom and toilet. The actual room has an impressive list of inclusions. As well as a king-size bed, there’s a TV and DVD player in the room, with Chromecast access, an electric kettle, cups and tea essentials, mini fridge with complimentary milk (plus cereal), an international plug adapter and even bath robes. It’s a family-friendly household (the hosts have a well-behaved 3 year old). Just note there is no access to the living room or cooking in the kitchen (microwave use only).
This private room has a variable minimum stay. The nightly rate (including fees) varies between £50-60 per night for 2 people, less for a single person.
Cool Britannia meets Olde English Style Airbnb
From the outside, Blenheim Lodge in a quiet upmarket residential area of North London looks like a typical old English manor. However, if you stay in this excellent B&B, when you step into your room you will find it decorated with non-stop Union Jack paraphernalia, including the cushions on the bed and the floor rug, making for a truly British place to stay! In true B&B style, a plentiful continental breakfast is included in the price of the room.
This house with its beautiful and peaceful garden to relax in seems a world away from the London city streets, but is in fact only a 5 minute walk from East Finchley Station and then 20 minutes on the tube to London Bridge and Kings Cross St Pancras, or 10 minutes to the delightful Camden Market. There’s also a English-style pub, the oldest cinema in the UK and shops and restaurants nearby. With a 2 night minimum stay, it’s priced at around £60 per night for two people.
